CO-CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER
CHIEF RESEARCH OFFICER
Dave Morton brings a wealth of experience, specialized knowledge, and a deep set of industry relationships to his roles at Foxhall Capital. He built a reputation as an ‘advisor to advisors’, as he sought to provide them guidance, techniques, and strategies to better manage client assets under their care.
His dual titles and roles are reflective of the emphasis at Foxhall Capital of putting well-reasoned, quantitative research into action: Dave leads the firm’s ongoing effort to develop, refine, document, and communicate the investment principles, processes, and procedures employed in the management of client assets.
Providing sound analysis with a meaningful interpretation was also Dave’s objective when he founded AdvisorGuide, LLC; a specialized research service for financial professionals.
Through years of sharing his research at conferences and meetings of advisors across the country, Dave developed a wide set of industry contacts, and a devoted subscriber list of investment professionals for whom AdvisorGuide continues to be trusted resource for clear, specific, objective, and timely investment guidance.
A long time practitioner of active global tactical asset allocation strategies (GTAA), Dave founded a discretionary, fee-based money management firm in 1984. He served as portfolio manager, Chief Investment Officer, and President until he joined Foxhall Capital in 2005.
Dave’s role with Foxhall Capital began as an outside research provider and consultant in 2003. Over time, he committed to working with Foxhall, already an early ETF adopter; to develop and market a suite of ETF based global investment portfolios.
After launch of the portfolios in late 2005, he moved to Old Town Alexandria, VA in 2006 to be onsite at the corporate office as the company grew rapidly.
A longtime member of The National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM), of the Market Technicians Association (MTA), and the Financial Planning Association (FPA), Dave currently serves on the Board of Directors of NAAIM.
Entering the financial services industry in 1982, Dave earned his Series 7 General Securities Representative and Series 24 Registered Securities Principal licenses in 1983. He worked with several national firms, including FSC Securities Corporation, Integrated Resources, and AIG Royal Alliance Associates, from 1983-2004.
Raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dave earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Florida in 1977. A long distance runner, Dave competed on the university’s track and cross country teams, earning an athletic letter.
During graduate studies in Systematic Theology from 1979-1983, at Trinity Divinity School, Bannockburn, Illinois, he was a teaching assistant for the head of the department. To this day, Dave credits that period of intensive training with significantly developing the analytical, research, and presentation skills he now applies in his current roles at Foxhall Capital.
